Repair nail damage the simple way

Renske Grant at Simply Envision is a master nail artist, and she knows that looking after your nails is essential if you want them to act as fantastic canvases for creative designs. Her recommended treatment is IBX Nail Repair, and she told Cityscape all about it.

How does IBX work? It's a nail repair and strengthening treatment that repairs severe nail damage and toughens the upper layers of the nail plate allowing nail growth. It is applied to the natural nail after a tidy up (shape, buff and pushing back the cuticle). Gentle heat is used to help transfer the treatment into the upper layers of the nail plate, which fuses them together to strengthen your nails from the inside.

How do you know if you need a nail repair treatment? If you have thin, weak, damaged, splitting or peeling nails, an IBX treatment would be a good option, as IBX repairs the delaminated and peeling free edges of your nails. If you have short nails, IBX will help toughen the natural nail and can help to grow your nails longer.

Can you still get funky nail art over the top of your IBX treatment? Yes, IBX can be used as a treatment by itself without any polish, used as a protective shield under gel polish or when you come in for nail enhancement maintenance. We actually recommend pairing your IBX treatments with gel polish so that you're getting both internal and external strength added to your natural nails.

How long does it take? The first treatment, along with a nail tidy up, takes 45 minutes. After that, treatments will be 30 minutes long with a nail tidy up.

What products should we be using at home to make sure our nails stay in good condition? We recommend applying certified organic Dadi cuticle oil 2-3 times a day to enhance flexibility and prevent nail brittleness. There's a also Dadi Scrub, a great luxurious exfoliator and conditioner for the hands and feet - it leaves your skin super soft, hydrated and rejuvenated.

What other nail tips do have for us? Always wear gloves and use brushes when doing cleaning to protect your nails, and never use your nails as tools! And if you get nail enhancements, keep your appointments regular and don't pick off any product.
